BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS’ BIG TASTE OF MARTIN COUNTY RAISED ATTENDANCE, AWARENESS, COMMUNITY OUTREACH AND MONEY FOR LOCAL KIDS

October 24, 2018- (Stuart, FL) – Known as the Big Taste of Martin County, this annual fundraising event for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Palm Beach and Martin Counties was held for the at The Stuart Jet Center on Tuesday, October 23rd.

The organization also unveiled their new logo “B” as part of the national branding with their new logo representing the real-life match. This lowercase “b” idea represents the story of a Little and their parents or guardians aligning with our organization to build momentum toward reaching their full potential. The elements of the lowercase b stand as a powerful symbol but do not tell the complete story. With the addition of Bigs, the equal parts create meaningful intersection. As the upper piece of the B is added, the relationship balances and becomes stronger and bigger.

This premier food and wine festival of the Treasure Coast delighted hundreds of attendees.
The jet hanger was a great setting for this fundraiser under an airplane hanger. Nearly 700 people attended from the community to support Big Brothers Big Sisters.

There was wall to wall food and drinks by over 30 restaurants throughout Martin County sampling and serving up bites of their signature dishes. From the Stuart Boathouse, Berry Fresh and Kyle G’s, to Mondo’s Wood Fired Pizza and Whit’s Frozen Custard to name a few.  All attendees were invited to vote on their favorites.  The winners were: Best Soup – Martin County High School Academy of Culinary Arts, Best Salad – The Talk: house, Best Appetizer – Kyle G’s,  Best Entrée – Kyle G’s, Best Dessert – A Food Affair, Best Drink – The Twisted Tuna, and Best Presentation – Martin County High School Academy of Culinary Arts.

The community came together for an evening of fun, food, craft beer, wine, and music by Smooth Grooves.  Emceed by Virginia Sinicki (a former Big Sister) from the KVJ Show on 97.9 WRMF, the entertainment kept the music going all night long. By the end of the evening, guests were dancing. The silent auction and raffles were a big hit as many bids on the sought-after prizes from places like Aquatica, SeaWorld, Marriott, Southwest Airline tickets, and many more. For an upgrade, guests enjoyed the “Big Experience” a VIP area that was sponsored by: Peter Avonda of Raymond James and Macy’s.

The evening brought together everyone for an incredible cause as the Big Taste of Martin County supported their mission to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever throughout Palm Beach and Martin Counties. The event raised over $52,000 allowing Big Brothers Big Sisters to continue to impact lives of young children of our community.

“The event was a huge success for Big Brothers Big Sisters. All the vendors put their best foot forward to impress the crowd, and the feedback received reflected their enthusiasm for their efforts. It was a great time, supporting an even better cause” says Courtney Buckel, Partnership and Events Coordinator at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Palm Beach and Martin Counties.

“We cannot thank everyone enough for coming out and supporting us.” says recently appointed Chief Executive Officer, Yvette Acevedo of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Palm Beach and Martin Counties.
