Santa Open Participants Make a Big Impact for Children This Holiday

By | December 21st, 2017|Categories: News|0 Comments

Stuart, FL (December 19, 2017) – The Santa Claus Open Cocktail Party & Golf Tournament was a wonderful way to “meet & greet” some of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Palm Beach & Martin Counties (BBBS) most ardent supporters. Andrew Hunt presented the merits of mentoring and BBBS’s partnership with The First Tee & Sigma Phi presented BBBS with a $20,000 check from donated from their Queen of Hearts fundraiser.

At the annual event hosted by Stuart Yacht & Country Club, the community members in attendance opened their hearts, and wallets, for the children and donated 100 toys for the agency. There was a multitude of auction items, which drew a crowd to the presentation areas, and enthusiastically guest began bidding. A few highlights of auction items include a round of golf for four at Trump National in season, a round at Old Palm, a round of play for three with member Ryan Deasy at Medalist, and brunch at the Equestrian Center during competition. Mr. Laird Smith made a tremendous impact on the lives of local children, with just one bid. The event was a smashing success and raising over $74,000.

Thanks to the generosity of Santa Claus Open golfers, Young Professionals of Martin County and Little Smiles of Florida & the Martin County Sheriff’s Office Grill Team who made hot dogs for BBBS’s annual Christmas Party. There were many smiling faces as little’s opened their presents which were donated by attendees of the event.

Freedom Boat Club “Boating Big!” Campaign for Big Brothers Big Sisters

By | November 2nd, 2017|Categories: Events, News, Uncategorized|0 Comments

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Palm Beach and Martin Counties are very appreciative of several individuals who help to provide experiences of a lifetime to youth in Palm Beach and Martin Counties. Barry Weintraub, a member of Freedom Boat Club of the Palm Beaches, wanted to share his boating experiences with others. He knew that many children in our programs would never experience boating, the beaches, or fishing even though they live just miles from the ocean. Barry is a generous and giving individual.  He became involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Palm Beach and Martin Counties in 2011 when he became a Big Brother mentor.

Barry began by committing to a fishing trip the first Saturday of each month rain or shine for Big Brothers Big Sisters mentors and their Littles. This experience has taken off and is Big Brothers Big Sisters most highly sought after event, serving about forty children and volunteers each year. The matches spend the morning cruising around the Intracoastal on the boat with Captain Barry and his Co-Captain, Realtor Adam Gutmann. They drop a few lines and hope to catch fish, and then enjoy lunch provided by Freedom Boat Club.

Freedom Boat Club of Palm Beach and Martin has started their own “Boating Big! All Aboard for Littles” fundraising campaign. For the 2nd year in the franchisor’s 26-year history, Freedom Boat Club’s corporate ownership and franchise owner’s/operator’s will work together in a cause marketing program and platform to raise both awareness and funds for this well-respected 111-year old organization.  “We are very excited and enthusiastic to continue working with Big Brothers Big Sisters and to support the outstanding work they do in serving young people,” said Dan Lund, owner, Freedom Boat Club Palm Beach & Martin Counties.
