Big Brothers Big Sisters began nearly 120 years ago to create and support one-to-one
mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.
The theory was, if a caring adult mentor could help a child see their own potential and
support their goals, it could change that child’s life. That simple idea to inspire young people
caught on and today BBBS is the nation’s gold standard in youth mentoring with chapters in
all fifty states and around the world. But the world is changing quickly and many kids in our
very own communities are having a tough time keeping up.
