Children’s Services Council of Martin County is providing increased opportunities for Martin County children and youth to receive a mentors by supporting the “Start Something” and “School to Work” Programs
We are excited to announce Children’s Services Council of Martin County has awarded funding to support Big Brothers Big Sisters “Start Something” community based mentoring program and additional funding to expand the “School to Work” program into Martin County. Providing additional opportunities for children and youth to reach their brightest potential through high quality mentoring programs.
“Start Something” program is our traditional community-based mentoring that pairs children with caring adults who provide positive experiences that help children and youth to grow and develop new skills and lasting friendships
Newly expanded into Martin County, “School to Work” is a unique mentoring program which integrates mentoring, career exploration and internship to inspire youth while supporting academic success and career development. The program encourages graduation while maintaining or improving academics, behavior, attendance, and introduces youth to caring adults working in diverse fields within the community.
Big Brothers Big Sisters staff provides support to encourage and ensure safe and positive relationship development in all mentoring programs offered by the agency.

The Children’s Services Council of Martin County is an Independent Special Taxing District created by ordinance by the Martin County Board of County Commissioners in June 1988. The voters of Martin County approved taxing authority by referendum on November 1988 by 62 percent, and on November 4, 2014, voters reauthorized this by nearly 77 percent. The Mission of Children’s Services Council of Martin County is to enhance the lives of the children of Martin County and to enable them to attain their full potential.
